A FUTURE’S FAERIE TALE…

Phantasia Celeste has spent her life living in an ethereal world of flying islands and pretty people with soul-wings – but, unlike Phantasia, other faeries don’t have white hair or diamond eyes. She is unique, an enigma, and a catalyst for events beyond her control.

After her very existence fuels an uprising against her benefactor, Queen Thetis, and she is forced to watch everything she loved taken away from her, Phantasia embarks upon a journey of self-discovery that leads her another world: the human world..

The 31st Century, however, is not a friendly place. A millennium has passed since the faeries’ masquerade over humanity faltered, and now the surface world is flooded with conflict and corruption. Mountainous metal cities tower over ruined lands traversed by wandering tribes and warriors while demons, humans and faeries fight over a hopeless future..

Phantasia begins her journey in the small town of Torsten as it becomes a conflux for events that will change not just the local populace, and not just Phantasia, but the whole world…

What the hell is a ‘Webserial’?

Phantasia is a webserial with new chapters released every Friday/weekend. But what’s this ‘webserial’ thing, you ask? Is it one of these novels that get released a chapter at a time? Or a work-in-progress novel that will be released as an e-book/hardback when serialisation is over?

Well, not really. Phantasia is a serial in the classic sense. It’s already been running for two years, and it will be running for many more to come! Think of it like this: it’s to a novel what a TV series is to a film. The story is on-going, the characters developing, the cast revolving. If you’re familiar with soap-operas, arc-driven TV shows, or long-running comics, you should have a good idea what I’m getting at…

Is this a novel or a comic?

Both! This is the 21st Century and we’re on the Internet, so why be adhere to old fashioned borders and genre conventions? In a better world, the story would have a lot more illustrations than it currently does – something that certainly begins to show as the story progresses!

So this is the final version then?

No :p If it were a final version, I wouldn’t be letting people read it for free! Rather, you could think of this as a ‘public beta’. Yes, there are mistakes and errors (though I would say things get better over time in that regard!). Yes, the final versions will fix these. Yes, they will also revise and expand the story. No, they won’t contradict it (unless I’ve done some minor continuity blundering). If you decide to only ever read the ‘free’ version you’ll still get the main story, so don’t worry about that!
