Here’s a very Shounen Jump style cover I designed for the first collected volume (which will cover the expanded prologue). No, it’s not ready to buy yet, but at least you have an idea as to what it might look like when it is! I’m still working on the logo design…
[SinglePic not found]Again, big apologies for the lack of a chapter this week, but I really haven’t had a break since Christmas (and before that, I only had one break since I started in March 09!). Even the professionals get to take a breather every now and again, and on the plus side it’s enabled me to plan things out a bit more. I’ve turned the epic level up to 11 for the rest of the current arc, believe me. When it kicks it, you will know it.
Meanwhile, thankyou again to the people who have donated. Given my current life situation, you really are feeding me (long story short: I moved across the country, got caught out by unexpected fees, and am still trying to find a new job). Anyone who has been around here for a while will probably have noticed my general discomfort with asking for donations, and that I’ve been sticking the button around just goes to tell you how bad my monetary situation has gotten! At any rate, if you can spare a dollar or two, it really would help keep the story alive…by, eh, keeping me alive XD
If anyone has suggestions for better fund-raising options (I’m still trying to avoid the cheaply-printed t-shirts and overpriced mouse mats that so many other series/comics offer!), they would be much appreciated! I’ll be starting up an Etsy store soon, selling art prints and little trinkets like phone charms and who knows what else. It’s all worth a punt at least!
And, generally, thanks for the support. You wouldn’t believe how much a simple message can lift an impoverished artist’s mood!
PS. R.I.P Dio *sadface*

I understand the reluctance to ask for money, even when you need it. Gave ya a few dollars.
And as to the break, enjoy it, you certainly deserve it.
Massive thanks, it helps a lot
Hmm… Well, I would definitely put you up there as one of the most dedicated authors/artists with Scott Christian Sava, and I felt he deserved his ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR HIS HEALTH break a couple years back, and I consider sanity to be something you have when you’re healthy mentally, so I feel you deserve it.
I think a store-exclusive Phantasia wallpaper would be a good idea, as would hats.
Thanks! I never think I’m dedicated enough, personally (there’s a whole ton of stuff I’ve been working on for the site that’s sitting unfinished – detailed profiles, background info, proper summaries, a timeline etc etc etc). But the other day I saw an index of the story proper, and it was 430 pages long. Over a quarter of a million words. Almost the length of Lord of the Rings. Made me realise just how much I’ve put out there XD
Never thought about wallpaper. Never even considered people would pay for that sort of thing, given the sheer number of free wallpaper you can get just by searching Google XD
It’s a “unique” factor. Mob Ties gives you a choice of two wallpapers every time you donate. Drowtales has a selection of wallpapers you can download ONLY if you subscribe to their Daydream Fanservice section. The wallpaper-for-sale thing is a LOT more common than you thought.
Clearly I ought to spend more time studying the webcomic business model, rather than the near non-existent webfiction one!
LOL! Maybe you should just research sales figures from various webcomic and other shops to find out what works and what doesn’t?
Also, the wallpaper thing, there are no Phantasia wallpapers in existence, that I know of, and it only has to be created once and downloaded endlessly. It is the option with the lowest cost, and probably highest proportionate return.
NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! JK lol. You definitely deserve the break. I can tell you for a fact that when Volume 1 comes out, I’m buying it. As far as fundraisery stuff goes, maybe selling posters of the “bands” that are featured or jewlery featuring faerie…you know what? Too expensive on that but seriously, kick-ass Phantasia Online Mouse pads (or mats…I guess) would work, even if it makes you feel sleazy
I’d actually contemplated designing some broaches based on faerie wings, like the ones being worn here XD Not worked out the best way of actually making them though… And there’s been discussion about marketing Joel’s favourite band/musician, DEATH BASTARD!, in some form or another. Maybe even writing his songs!
Those sorts of ideas have a wider market than simple branded stuff, because they can appeal to people who have never even heard of the series. That’s my thought, anyway >_>
oooh… *pokes the shiney art*
