This is in response to people asking if there could be some form of cast/character reference alongside the story itself. I’ve put something together which you can now see in the latest pages (here if you want a direct link).

Let me know what you think. It seems a little slow loading stuff up to me, but I think that’s just Javascript for you! It doesn’t affect the rest of the page loading, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

The actual mini-bios themselves would be arc-specific, so they won’t be rewritten for every chapter (too much effort!) but should cover the basics.

I really suck at keeping everyone updated on the little things, don’t I? Various pages and stuff have been going up all week, including the first of the soon-to-be-many character profiles. I’m hoping you like the idea behind them: rather than some boring Wikipedia-esque drivel, I’m writing them as if they were actual in-universe profiles!

This will also be extending to the Database, where entries will be written as if they were reports from various characters (mostly the teaching staff – though don’t be surprised to see other characters contributing!). It’s a lot more fun to write, for a start! Just don’t take it all too seriously, okay? I don’t want people asking “but why is this person contributing when they’re dead/evil/whatever?!”.

The fourth wall: I’m breaking it.

And coming full circle: so I suck at keeping everyone updated. How do people like to be updated/hear about minor things/read comments on what’s happening ETCETERA?

How do you like to keep up-to-date with THINGS?

You can now read SUMMARIES of PREVIOUS CHAPTERS! It’s something I’ve been working on for a while, but I never made them public because I’ve only written them up to #35 so far.

But why keep them sitting in the shadows? People might find them useful! You can find them on the archives page, or start here.

I’ll try and get the summaries written for #36+ written when I can. And also make the pages more visually appealing. *adds more to the workload*

To Me!

I’m contemplating starting some kind of (bi)weekly ‘column’ where I answer questions posed by you readers. These can be anything: about the story, about the creation of the story, about life itself – IT’S UP TO YOU! So leave your questions here, or on the Phantasia Facebook page, or even on Twitter (use @darydith or #phantasia – I’ve not used Twitter in an age, but I’m contemplating it again), and once/if I get enough, I’ll start the column!

To You!

Secondly, I updated the front page poll thing. There’s this perception among webserial writing types that the majority of people reading webserials are writers of such things themselves, so I’m going to test this theory!

Are you involved with any kind of web-based narrative shenanigans?

Here’s the first character bio! As the title suggests, it’s for Joel, so here’s your chance to find out why he’s so eager to throw himself into danger and make himself a hero!

What, you thought I’d cover the most popular characters first? Ha!
