The Ravens

Kaori Shimomura

A Raven girl with bipolar problems and Phantasia’s first human friend. Though she is friendly and extroverted, she is plagued by self-doubt and jealousy – especially concerning her boyfriend, Joel.

Joel Gibson

Kaori’s boyfriend. He has a manic personality and is easily fascinated by anything remotely esoteric or supernatural. Thanks to his brash, do-or-die nature this can get Joel into all sorts of trouble.

Doyle Kennedy

The oldest student in Sapphire Second, Doyle is a self-assured womaniser who has difficulty sustaining long-term relationships. Popular with the younger girls but not trusted by others, his Casanova tendencies hide a fragile heart.

Lyra Byrne

A cynical, foul-mouthed girl who appears to hate the world around her. She has little patience for ignorance, but secretly watches out for her friends behind her unsociable exterior. She hails from a tribe of vagrants and is well-versed in supernatural lore.

Byron d’Arcadie

Self-titled Poet Laureate of Torsten. He refuses to believe in things like love, regarding them as transitory expressions people use to give life meaning. Byron is infamous for his hallucinogenic drug usage, which he explains away as ‘inspiration’.

Former Ravens

Vincent Masters

Devout follower of the Hawk subculture, he plots to become famous so that others follow him. Vincent and Byron are good friends, even though their respective subcultures despise one another.

Shelley Edwards

A self-conscious girl who is continuously rejected from every social circle she tries to enter. Her past relationship with Joel causes tension with her once-best-friend, Kaori.

Blake

A lethargic boy who only shows up at school because he’d be bored otherwise. He once hung around with the Ravens but turned his allegiance to the Hawks when he failed to attract any Raven girls.
