I could’ve toned those pages better, but I haven’t had the time x_x

Next week will be worse. I’m not sure how I’ll get those pages done!! Yeah, there will be more… These few chapters are very much how I’ve envisioned the whole story being told, but originally I didn’t have the confidence to produce the illustrated stuff. Thank Scott McCloud for his awesome books on comic theory for changing that. I’ll have to go back and add stuff to those older chapters eventually, though XD More work… x_x

So yeah, in the previous draft this arc was around 7,000 words. It’s now about double that and split over 4 chapters… In exchange you get a lot more character development! The original version only dealt with everything from Phantasia’s viewpoint (other than the initial scene with Katrina)!

We have to wait another week?! Aaaaaaahhhhhh!

These serials are going to kill me.

Wait, there’s a joke there somewhere. Phantasia, Addergoole and Strange Little Band are all serial killers! Yes!

That would be funnier if I wasn’t actually being left hanging over and over again. (See, I did it again… serial killers, hanging…)

(I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again (probably a few times!) : at least you tell us when to expect the next installment.)

I agree with Mr. Payne for the simple fact that I like to know what’s going on and I hate losing control. While it would obviously be better if the students never got involved, sooner or later the adults WILL have to pass the torch to the next generation, and by then they might not be prepared enough.

Oh and since this is my first time leaving a reply, I’d just like to say I think your story is awesome and that I can’t wait to see what happens next. Cheers!

  4. Dietrich says:

Train the children to be soldiers to replace the adults when they fall in battle. To teach them to be protected by others is to teach them to be victims. Anyone who thinks that they shouldn’t train them to fight hasn’t had to be in that situation and isn’t fit to vote on it.

  5. aqua says:

adults proticting the young is only good if the adults eliminate the problem. such as what happened in america. when europeans first arived everyone needed to be able to defend their self, over time we elliminated threats and now most americans don’t need to defend themselves.

that wont happen here. if the children dont learn, then when the adults die the children will be figurative dead meat, soon to be literal.

  6. reynard61 says:

I think that a little John Adams applies here: “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”

Each generation tends to want more and better for their children than they had.

This is (predictably) the most one-sided poll ever!! Thanks for the comments, guys, it’s great to hear people’s own philosophies on this sort of thing!

I’ll have to go into the youth of Payne and Wotan sometime. Wotan himself very much wanted to deal with everything himself and not burden those who followed, hence why he went to such dramatic lengths! Like a lot (too many!) of the characters his story could be a novel in its own right XD

  8. Az says:

    OMG, finally I made it!
lol just caught up with you guys :)

oh cant help commenting on the poll,
I voted for Payne’s method for I too dont like not knowing whats trully going on
or that the next generation wouldn’t be ready to face the world.
But fact is that Wotan’s way of leading and doing things wouldnt rob the children
    of their childhoods…
I am looking forward to see what the students will learn from now on…

  9. Abeo says:

I voted for Payne’s method because it distributes the power more evenly and allows the children to fight back against all threats, including their teachers if need be. I don’t trust all the power being in the hands of a few, or only one type of person.
