September rolls around…
September 1, 2010It won’t be long now before the story starts up again! Whether in weekly, or twice-weekly form I still don’t know. I’m waiting for a delivery on some Genuine Mangaka Brushes for doing the illustrated scenes with (the brush pen just wasn’t working out!), and there should be several of these coming up! Hopefully not [...]

August 29, 2010I’ve spent a few days away, because I was called up to audition for Deal or No Deal. Seriously. Obviously I didn’t get through – they like old ladies, struggling everymen and pretty young girls wanting to get married, not an eccentric who, in the words of one woman there, “looks like Russel Brand” (I [...] 1 Comment »
Titania is a ditz
August 24, 2010I’m enjoying writing about Titania so much, it looks like I’ll be getting several chapters out of her now! If you enjoyed the first two chapters, where it was all faeries and magical islands, you’ll be liking what’s coming up. It also contains a few references to events that will be covered in the expanded [...]

August 22, 2010Here I am, keeping you up-to-date on recent Phantasia-based happenings! The break has proven to be a blessing, leading to some stuff I would’ve have written otherwise – mainly a chapter or two dedicated to Princess Titania in the form of some flashbacks, which will help clear up any confusion over why Awyr seems to [...]

August 17, 2010Here’s your chance to help stop the author by bidding on this exciting painting of a decadent Parisian dinosaur! Money earned from this auction will help pay bills, buy food and reduce high stress levels, enabling the author to continue work on Phantasia. And we’d all love that, wouldn’t we?!

This chapter has only taken about 45 hours to bring together! Blame the artwork again. I’m still experimenting with different techniques and paper – those first two pages were rushed, but that final one above made use of a lovely brush-pen I’ve had anxieties about using before! And the coloured stuff ALWAYS takes forever – each of those portraits on the title page was at least 45 minutes work XD
And to think I CUT three pages… the whole section with the classroom’s reactions, Phantasia phasing through a window, and her initial meeting with the THING was all planned out for illustration XD That’s where that image I’ve been using in recent ads came from (which you can also see on the front page banner for this chapter).
I’d like to give myself a break, but I have to keep working to build up my buffer! Good job I’ll be taking a SEASONAL BREAK (so no chapters over the holidays

“Good job I’ll be taking a SEASONAL BREAK (so no chapters over the holidays)”
:-O
Phantasia is a cripple now! THAT’S TERRIBLE (though probably temporary)!!! Now would be a good time for Faye and Thetis to appear! Can’t wait for the next installment XD!! Also, I just noticed that there is a tiny smiley face in the bottom left hand corner of this screen. Sneaky.
So sneaky I don’t see it! Apparently it’s a WordPress thing, and only guests can see it. I’m not quite sure what the point is… oh, those crazy internet geeks! At least it’s not the Awesome face!
soo, can faries regenerate?
Their bodies are entirely ethereal, so why not? It’s not like if WE were to lose a limb, that it would be lost unless possible to re-attach the original.
In this time-frame, even a human losing a limb wouldn’t a THAT big a deal. There’s both technology and magic that can deal with it – assuming the victim has access to such things and doesn’t die before treatment!
And yeah, faeries can regenerate. Kind of. Being ethereal has advantages: no physical body lets them disobey the laws of physics and do all sorts of things…but it makes them extremely weak to ethereal attack! Case in point: had that magic attack struck a human, it wouldn’t have done much other than drain their own spiritual energy, which humans regenerate naturally. Faeries regenerate from their environment, because they don’t naturally restore their own spiritual power… which means a hostile environment or one not rich in their element will put them at a disadvantage!
And Phantasia is at a bigger disadvantage because her element is a pure blend of the elements (as light is a blend of colours). The side effects of this are actually elaborated on in the next chapter!
x_____x I always try not to make these things complicated! That probably makes it sound worse than it is in my head… DIAGRAMS would illustrate it better! Oddly enough I’ll be doing exactly that to explain something in a few chapters time (having Faye around makes for excellent exposition potential).
Cybernetics ftw
I tell ya what I’m waiting to see, the story of the cities like Malkuth and what goes on within.
There’ll be some side-stories regarding Malkuth et al in 2010. Looking at the plan, the main story ought to be going there itself in the second half of the year!
AWESOME story!!!! I just found this site earlier this week and have just finished devouring the whole story… I hope Faye kicks this things butt when she shows up
I don’t see Faye being the one to do it..she’s a bit too bookwormish imo to be very useful in a fight….Queen Thetis on the other hand….
MORE! i need more! story that is.
Totally unrelated side thought, which I apologize for, when the print version comes out are you going to call it Phantasia Offline? Also, can’t wait for this week’s chapter!
great story so far Dary. Break Deserved. but please, less pictures, more text!!
Good job creating a compelling story that made me want to read it all in one day. Form 9 AM to 3 AM.
I would have done the same thing if I had that kind of time. It really has been entertaining.
Woah, I’m impressed!
I just noticed… Phantiasia’s ethereal clothing (after jumping through the solid-glass window) looks an awful lot like a t-shirt and jeans. With a belt.
That’s ’cause she just duplicated what she was already wearing XD
Oh come on…
Just admit that at some point after drawing that, you said something like, “Oh nuts.”
